What KPIs Actually Are
Now let’s talk about KPIs.
Because once you’ve defined what success looks like,
you need a way to know whether it’s actually happening.
KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator.
A KPI is simply a way to measure whether someone is doing the job
the way the practice needs the job to be done.
YOU define the KPIs
KPIs take expectations out of your head
and put them somewhere visible.
Without KPIs,
success is not defined or trackable.
You’re thinking:
“I feel like this isn’t working.”
Your team is thinking:
“I thought I was doing fine.”
And now you’re having two completely different conversations.
KPIs solve that.
They give you something specific to point to.
They turn opinions into information.
Not to control people.
Not to micromanage.
But to create clarity.
Because it’s hard to lead a team
when success lives in your head
and nowhere else.
KPIs are not the goal.
They’re the drivers.
They help you see what’s working.
They help you see what’s not.
And they give you a shared language
for talking about performance.
Once success is defined,
KPIs are how you make it real.
